How to use these hook formulas
The first 3 seconds of your short-form video dictate whether the viewer stays or scrolls. These formulas are designed around core human psychology: curiosity, pain points, desired outcomes, and authority.
- Identify your angle: Are you solving a problem, revealing a secret, or showing a transformation?
- Fill the blanks:Prefer capability framing ("How you can…", "Try this…") over past claims. Keep brackets short: "How you can lose 10 pounds" beats a long goal sentence.
- Match the visual: The spoken or written hook must match the visual action happening on screen.
Testing multiple hooks efficiently
You shouldn't rely on just one hook. The best creators test multiple hooks against the same core video body to see what resonates.
Instead of filming 5 entirely different videos, you can use hook repurposing. Film one strong base video, write 5 different hooks using the generator above, and swap them out. For ready-made wording, browse the formula library.
